On July 6, 2024, Jacolby Jones, a 24-year-old resident of Port Allen, Louisiana, lost his life due to a shooting incident. The incident occurred when a 17-year-old, identified as Lawrence Williams, allegedly shot a gun inside the vehicle they were riding in. This accidental discharge resulted in Jones being hit by the bullet.

Jones was immediately taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m..
