In the summer of 2024, a Shreveport, Louisiana community was shaken by the violent death of 24-year-old Jaden Barnhill. On July 17, 2024, Barnhill was found deceased inside a residence in the 4700 block of Kennedy Drive, having sustained two gunshot wounds to the head. The discovery launched an investigation by the Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit as they began the search for those responsible for the young man's death.
Nearly two weeks after the tragic discovery,
authorities announced a significant development in the case. On July 30, 2024, 23-year-old Everett Henderson, a convicted felon, was taken into custody at a home in the Pines Road area. Henderson was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. At the time of his arrest, investigators signaled that more individuals might be involved and that further arrests were possible as they continued to piece together the events that led to Barnhill's killing. Police also publicly sought another individual, Perteria Seamster, for questioning in connection with the homicide.
By November of that year, the scope of the case had expanded, and formal charges were brought against multiple suspects. A Caddo Parish grand jury returned indictments against Everett Henderson, as well as Legarian Lee and Petra Seamster II, for their alleged roles in Jaden Barnhill's murder. All three individuals were subsequently held at the Caddo Correctional Center as the legal process against them commenced.
