In the early morning hours of April 2, 2022, the life of 30-year-old Fazon C. Jenkins, an African American male, was tragically cut short in Shreveport, Louisiana. At approximately 4:50 a.m., officers from the Shreveport Police Department were dispatched to the 2000 block of Marshall Street following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Jenkins had been fatally wounded by gunfire.
The violence of that morning was not limited to Jenkins alone.
Two other Black males were also found at the scene with gunshot wounds, and a female victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigations into the incident suggested that an argument had escalated, leading to the deadly shooting. Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators from the Shreveport Police Department began a thorough investigation into the events that transpired.
Despite their efforts, the investigation into Fazon Jenkins's death has not yet led to the identification of any suspects or persons of interest, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The Shreveport Police Department continues to seek information from the public to help bring those responsible to justice. A Celebration of Life service for Fazon, who was also known as 'Tonka,' was held on April 16, 2022, at the Bright Star Baptist Church in Shreveport, as his family and friends gathered to mourn their loss.
