On September 24, 2024, at approximately 6:44 p.m., the Natchitoches Police Department responded to reports of gunshots in the 800 block of July Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that 17-year-old Matthew Daniels had been transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle. Tragically, Daniels was pronounced dead at the hospital due to gunshot wounds.
