In the late afternoon of September 29, 2016, in a mobile home just north of Natchitoches, Louisiana, a young man's life was cut short. Justin D. Davis, a 23-year-old male, was found lying on the floor near the front door, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound to his chest. When Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the residence on Johnson Chute Road, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Coroner's Office.
The events leading to the tragic discovery began with a report of a
shooting that sent deputies rushing to the area. An altercation had reportedly occurred between Justin and his aunt, Crystal Renee Bremsy. In the aftermath of the dispute, Bremsy, then 31 years old, left the scene. However, law enforcement intercepted her vehicle during a traffic stop near Natchitoches shortly after the incident was reported.
Following an investigation by detectives, who processed the crime scene and interviewed witnesses, Crystal Renee Bremsy was taken into custody. She was subsequently booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and formally charged with one count of second-degree murder in connection with the death of her nephew. Investigators also successfully recovered the suspected weapon used in the homicide. Bremsy was held without bond.
