In the quiet hours of the day after Christmas in 2018, the life of 22-year-old Michael Burks, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Natchitoches, Louisiana. On December 26th, Burks was killed by gunfire in an incident that also left another person injured. The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting, and news reports at the time indicated that an arrest was made in connection with the event that resulted in one fatality and one injury.
