On November 12, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) responded to a welfare check at a residence on Topsy Road in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The call was initiated by Gabriel B. Williams, 24, who advised of a possible ongoing hostage situation.
