The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office was initially dispatched to the
residence for a welfare check around 8:00 p.m. The call came from a man named Gabriel B. Williams, who reported a possible hostage situation. As deputies arrived and attempted to make their way into the home, a single gunshot rang out, prompting them to call in the CPSO ACT-Team to secure the area. Once inside, they discovered the bodies of Dahlen Semar and another 23-year-old woman, Madison Guillory. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Further investigation by detectives revealed the incident to be a murder-suicide. It was determined that Dahlen Semar shot and killed Madison Guillory before turning the gun on herself.
