Mary Jane Casey, 68, a White woman, was found dead inside a home on Lucille Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana, after police were called in to check on her welfare. The concern came from a family member, and when officers arrived and went inside, they discovered a grim scene: Casey had suffered an apparent gunshot wound, and there was a second body in the home as well.
Investigators quickly identified the other deceased person as Chad Edwin Reeves.
Both Casey and Reeves lived at the Lucille Street address, tying the violence not to a random intrusion but to a shared private space—one that should have been safest.
