In the early morning hours of a Friday in Frankfort, Kentucky, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 24-year-old Anna Brigham. The young mother of two was shot and killed in her Indian Hills neighborhood home on June 16, 2023. The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when police received a 911 call from a man who admitted to shooting his girlfriend, Anna Brigham.

Upon their arrival at the Powhatan Trail residence, first responders discovered Brigham deceased, having sustained at least one gunshot wound. The male caller, who was her boyfriend, was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities believe the event was a murder and attempted suicide. Before law enforcement arrived, the man had reportedly given their two young children, ages 4 and 5, to his cousin. The man was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment; his condition was unknown.

In the wake of the tragedy, Brigham's father revealed that his daughter had been making plans to leave her situation and return to her home state of Georgia with her children. He expressed that he was not fully aware of the severity of the circumstances his daughter was facing, as she had not elaborated on how bad things truly were. Anna, who was born in Gainesville, Georgia, on July 11, 1998, was remembered as a homemaker.
