On January 6, 2024, 25-year-old Kierra Brianna Lane was fatally shot in her Covington, Kentucky, home. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on West 34th Street in the Latonia neighborhood. Responding officers found Lane with multiple gunshot wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Mario Duran Payne, the father of Lane's two children, was arrested two days later in Louisville.
