In the quiet community of Hardin, Kentucky, the life of 51-year-old Stephen Odom, a White male, was tragically cut short on the evening of Thursday, January 25, 2024. Authorities were called to a residence on West Unity Church Road around 5:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, Marshall County Sheriff's deputies discovered Odom deceased inside the home from what was identified as a gunshot wound.
The investigation into the incident quickly led deputies to identify
a suspect. The resident of the home where the shooting occurred, 37-year-old Aaron S. Dripps, was alleged to have shot Odom. Dripps was subsequently arrested and taken into custody at the Marshall County Detention Center. He was initially charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
As the legal process unfolded, a Marshall County grand jury formally indicted Aaron S. Dripps on March 5, 2024. The indictment included the original charge of murder in connection with Stephen Odom's death. Additional charges were also brought against Dripps, including trafficking in cocaine, possession of marijuana, and terroristic threatening, further deepening the legal troubles for the accused. The case against Dripps is ongoing as it moves through the judicial system.
