On a late afternoon in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, the life of 27-year-old Khailil D'Antonino Antwoine Buckner was tragically cut short. On Monday, February 26, 2024, officers responded to a call of a shooting at a residence on North McPherson Avenue around 5:30 p.m. There they found Buckner with a single gunshot wound to his chest. First aid was administered at the scene before he was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he ultimately succumbed to his injury.
The
investigation into the shooting quickly led Hopkinsville Police to identify a suspect. An arrest warrant for murder was issued for 24-year-old Kamron Snyder of Lima, Ohio. Snyder was apprehended in Allen County, Ohio, the day after the shooting and was subsequently extradited back to Kentucky to face the charge. Following his return to Christian County, Snyder was arraigned in Christian District Court where a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.
In April 2024, a Christian County Grand Jury returned an indictment for first-degree murder against Kamron Snyder. He remained lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $500,000 bond as the legal proceedings unfolded. After attempts to resolve the case through mediation were unsuccessful, the matter was set for trial. The trial commenced in October 2025, and after hearing all the evidence and witness testimony, the jury found Kamron Snyder not guilty of the murder of Khailil Buckner. He was subsequently released from custody.
