On the morning of July 30, 2024, Joseph A. Lewis, a 20-year-old Black male, was fatally shot inside a residence on Old Six Mile Lane in Jeffersontown, a suburb of Louisville, Kentucky. According to police reports, Lewis and a woman were in bed when an intruder forcibly entered the home and opened fire. Joseph A. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman sustained severe gunshot wounds to her face, shoulder, and hand, necessitating multiple surgeries.
