Bradley May, a 32-year-old man, was fatally wounded in a double shooting that unfolded near the University of Louisville campus on May 4, 2025. The incident, which also left a woman injured, prompted an investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit.
Just after midnight, at approximately 12:16 a.m., officers responded to a report
of a shooting in the 400 block of University Boulevard, near Eastern Parkway. Upon arrival, they discovered Bradley May and a female companion, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported them to the University of Louisville Hospital, where May succumbed to his injuries. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds. The woman's injuries were reported to be not life-threatening.
In the days following the shooting, the police indicated that all individuals involved in the incident had been accounted for, although it was not immediately clear if any arrests had been made. However, the investigation progressed, and in late June 2025, an arrest was made in connection with the fatal shooting. Brendan Spencer, 19, was taken into custody and faced charges of complicity to murder, assault, and wanton endangerment.
Bradley May, originally from Hamilton, Ohio, was remembered as a beloved son, brother, and partner. His obituary described him as a man who cherished spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was known for his warm smile, sense of humor, and role as a protector within his family. He is survived by his parents, siblings, and his girlfriend and her children.
