On a summer afternoon in Portland, Oregon, the life of 33-year-old Brandon Lee Allen, a White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short. On Sunday, July 9, 2023, at approximately 4:25 p.m., a shooting erupted in the Centennial neighborhood, near Southeast 174th Avenue and Mill Street. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Allen had been fatally shot. The medical examiner would later rule his death a homicide.
Another individual was also critically injured in the incident.
In the weeks that followed, detectives with the Portland Police Bureau's Homicide Unit worked to piece together the events of that day. With no immediate arrests made, they turned to the public for assistance, and Crime Stoppers of Oregon offered a reward for information that could lead to an arrest in the case. Allen's family, grieving their loss, provided photographs of him for public release in the hope that it might generate leads.
A significant development in the investigation came a month later, on the morning of August 9, 2023. Officers investigating a possibly stolen motorcycle in the area of Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Division Street attempted to make contact with a man. The man fled on foot, but was apprehended by the officers. He was identified as 24-year-old Kyle Duane Hague. It was then that investigators connected him to the homicide of Brandon Lee Allen. Hague was subsequently arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. He faces several serious charges, including Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, and Assault in the First Degree.
