In the early morning hours of November 12, 2015, a grim discovery was made at the intersection of North Bruce Avenue and Hudson Street in Portland, Oregon. A 19-year-old male from Vancouver, Washington, Dalton Marshall, was found unconscious and bleeding in the street. North Precinct officers and medical personnel responded to the call, which came in at approximately 2:04 a.m., but it was too late. Marshall was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered at least one apparent gunshot wound.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner later conducted an autopsy and officially ruled his death a homicide.
Homicide detectives began the arduous task of piecing together the final hours of Dalton Marshall's life. Years have passed since Dalton Marshall's life was cut short, yet the case remains unsolved. The Portland Police Bureau has repeatedly asked for the public's help in solving this homicide. In cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, a cash reward has been offered for information that leads to an arrest. However, there has been no suspect information released and no known motive for his death has been established. Law enforcement has acknowledged they were aware of a possible gang affiliation Marshall may have had in the Vancouver area, but they have not been able to determine if this played a role in his murder. The investigation into the death of Dalton Marshall is ongoing, leaving his family and friends without answers and his killer or killers still at large.
