On October 21, 2023, 17-year-old Chuy Copado Oropeza of Hillsboro, Oregon, was fatally shot at a house party near NE 32nd and NE Brogden. According to reports, a vehicle approached the gathering and opened fire, striking Chuy in the chest. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries. Another victim, a 16-year-old Liberty High School student, was also injured in the incident and is expected to recover.
