In the afternoon hours of April 15, 2024, a sense of normalcy was shattered in Southeast Portland, Oregon, marking the tragic end of a life that had just begun to plant new roots. Marc-Leon Telean, a 30-year-old Black male who had recently moved to the United States from Haiti, was shot and killed in what police have described as a random act of violence. The shooting occurred at approximately 2:08 p.m. near the intersection of Southeast 84th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard.
