On June 14, 2024, a day that should have been a celebration of her eighth-grade graduation, 15-year-old Alianah Dickey was found deceased in her Lowell, Massachusetts home. When the female teenager did not arrive for the ceremony, her concerned family went to her residence on Lawrence Street to check on her. Her grandmother discovered her inside a first-floor bedroom around 6:10 p.m., having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Police who responded to the scene located several shell casings near her body.
The investigation into her death quickly focused on her 21-year-old boyfriend, Trevor Bady of Tewksbury. Investigators learned that Dickey had been in an abusive relationship with Bady. Friends and witnesses reported that Dickey had confided in them about the abuse, stating that Bady had previously hit her, leaving her with bruises and a bloody lip. Just two days before her death, Dickey had told someone that Bady had made explicit threats, saying, "I'm going to kill you. I'm going to kill your grandma," and that he would shoot up her house.
Events on the night of her death began to unfold shortly after midnight on June 14. A neighbor called the police to report a loud argument between a male and a female outside on the street. The caller heard a female voice scream, "Get away from me, I don't want to be with you anymore." This was followed by the sound of gunshots. Surveillance video from the area reportedly captured audio of a female screaming for help, and about ten minutes later, the sound of gunfire. The video also showed a male suspect running from the front of the home and down the sidewalk after the shots were fired.
Authorities allege that Trevor Bady took an Uber to and from Dickey's home before and after the murder. The Uber driver later contacted police with concerns about a suspicious passenger, who was identified as Bady. Police were able to locate and arrest Bady in Peabody, Massachusetts. He has since been charged with murder, armed home invasion, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and other related firearms offenses. Bady was arraigned and ordered held without bail.
