In the early hours of July 5, 2024, a wave of violence following the Fourth of July celebrations tragically cut short the life of Warren Julien, a 40-year-old Black / African American man from Jamaica Plain. The incident that claimed his life unfolded at approximately 1:33 a.m. in the South End of Boston, near Ramsay Park on Shawmut Avenue.
Officers from District D-4 responded to a report of a person shot in the vicinity of 618 Shawmut Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Julien suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased. One resident in the area recalled hearing sounds that he initially mistook for firecrackers, a common occurrence in the neighborhood, highlighting the sudden and unexpected nature of the violence that erupted.
The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Warren Julien, and authorities have not released any information about a potential suspect or suspects.
