On a late Sunday evening in Springfield, Massachusetts, the life of 19-year-old Damontey Williams, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On July 14, 2024, at approximately 10:55 p.m., the sound of gunfire prompted a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of the 100 block of Massasoit Street. Springfield Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene where they discovered Williams suffering from a gunshot wound.
