In the spring of 2020, the life of a young Hispanic male, Anthony Diaz, was cut tragically short. At the age of 21, on the evening of March 30th, Diaz was fatally wounded in a shooting that occurred on Whiting Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was rushed to Baystate Medical Center, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Another individual who was with Diaz at the time was also injured in the attack but survived.
The investigation into the death of Anthony Diaz led to the
identification of two suspects. The first arrest, of an unnamed juvenile, took place on April 7, 2020. More than a month later, on May 21, 2020, the Springfield Police Department, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, apprehended a second suspect. This individual was identified as 23-year-old Dave Pagan.
Authorities reported that their investigation indicated that both Pagan and the previously arrested juvenile had fired shots into the vehicle in which Anthony Diaz was seated. As a result of the evidence gathered, Dave Pagan was charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Anthony Diaz. The apprehension of both suspects brought a measure of progress in a case that had left a family and a community in mourning.
