In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Springfield, Massachusetts, the life of 19-year-old Semaj Brewster, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On January 12, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the night on the 100 block of Oakland Street, prompting a ShotSpotter activation that alerted the Springfield Police.
