In the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston, a burst of gunfire on the afternoon of Friday, November 8, 2024, abruptly ended the life of 28-year-old Jose Alberto Feliz, a Black / African American man. The fatal encounter unfolded behind an apartment building on Garfield Avenue, where Feliz sustained multiple gunshot wounds. When police officers from District E-18 arrived at the scene around 1:14 p.m., they found Feliz already deceased.
The investigation into the shooting led to a swift
arrest. Police took into custody Isaiah Trevon Smith, a 28-year-old resident of the same Hyde Park housing development where the shooting occurred. Smith, who lived just a few doors down from where Feliz was killed, was apprehended in his own residence shortly after the incident.
Smith is now facing charges of murder and various firearms offenses in connection with the death of his neighbor. He was scheduled for arraignment in West Roxbury Municipal Court the following Tuesday. The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the deadly shooting, urging anyone with information to come forward.
