On January 14, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 8800 block of Rawles Avenue, located on the city's east side near the intersection of South Post Road and Rawles Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 32-year-old Brandon Jeremiah Evans, a Black male, inside a residence with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
