On a cold Valentine's Day evening in Indianapolis, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of the 2800 block of Forest Manor Avenue, leaving a family and community to grapple with a sudden and tragic loss. Nathaniel Childs Dawn Jr., a 55-year-old Black male, was found on a porch with apparent gunshot wounds on February 14, 2023. The call reporting a person shot came in shortly after 6:30 p.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
