Nathaniel Childs Dawn Jr., a 55-year-old Black male, was found on a porch with apparent gunshot wounds on February 14, 2023. The call reporting a person shot came in shortly after 6:30 p.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr.
Dawn in a grave state. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity, officially ruling his death a homicide.
