In the early morning hours of June 25, 2023, a dispute in the parking lot of a Hammond, Indiana, gas station turned deadly, claiming the life of 33-year-old Ronnie Martin, a father of four from Chicago. Martin was a passenger in a vehicle at the Luke's gas station located at 5105 Stateline Ave. around 2:00 a.m. when a fight broke out nearby. During the altercation, gunshots were fired, and a stray bullet tragically struck Martin.
