On July 27, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred on the near northwest side of Indianapolis. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 600 block of Eugene Street, near West 29th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, just before 11:00 p.m..

Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old male, later identified as Ryan Henderson, suffering from a gunshot injury. Henderson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
