In the early morning hours of a summer day in Gary, Indiana, tragedy struck, leaving two families heartbroken and a community searching for answers. On July 30, 2023, 24-year-old Jaquamold White, a male resident of Gary, was fatally shot in what police have deemed a homicide. The incident, which also claimed the life of another 24-year-old Gary man, Ja'Markis Hackett, unfolded around 6:22 a.m. in the 1500 block of Jackson Street.
