On Sunday, September 17, 2023, a homicide investigation was initiated in South Bend, Indiana, following the discovery of a fatal shooting. At approximately 3:20 a.m., South Bend Police Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of North College Street in response to a report of a man down. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, identified as Anthony Vernard Coleman, Jr., a 21-year-old resident of South Bend, outside with an apparent gunshot wound to his body.
