In the predawn hours of a September morning, the life of George N. Derment Jr., a 57-year-old Caucasian male from Lafayette, Indiana, was brought to a sudden and violent end. On September 23, 2023, in the 1100 block of North 12th Street, an altercation escalated to a fatal conclusion, forever altering the lives of two families.
