On the evening of October 23, 2023, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 5700 block of West Ray Street, near West Washington Street and I-465. Upon arrival, they discovered 24-year-old Lavoris R. Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
