In September 2017, a gathering to honor a man who had been killed weeks earlier turned into the scene of another tragedy in Indianapolis. Kirk J. Shurill, a male, was driving his car in a parking lot in the 1800 block of East 23rd Street where a large crowd had assembled. It was here that his life was cut short in a fatal encounter.
