Makayla Lockhart, a 27-year-old woman, was fatally shot in the evening of November 22, 2023, in Lawrence, Indiana. The incident occurred in the 4600 block of Normal Avenue, where Lockhart resided. According to her family, Lockhart was preparing for Thanksgiving the next day when she heard a noise outside her home. Upon investigating, she and her family discovered that her Hyundai's driver's side door lock had been damaged during an attempted car theft.
