On January 1, 2024, Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) Engineer Justin D. Boyd, known affectionately as "JB," was tragically killed in a double homicide incident. The incident occurred near the intersection of Michigan Road and Grandview Drive on the city’s northwest side. Boyd, 45, was driving a white truck when he and his passenger, 42-year-old Jasmine Ivy-Dede, were shot and killed. The bodies of both victims were found inside the truck after it had been involved in a crash.
