In the winter chill of Fort Wayne, Indiana, the life of 17-year-old Adaija Armani Okey was tragically cut short. On the evening of Monday, January 29, 2024, Adaija, a female student of Snider High School, was found in a parked car alongside 18-year-old Lamarion Bailey. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds in what was later ruled a homicide. The grim discovery was made in the 700 block of Romy Avenue, near the intersection of East State Street and Parnell Avenue, sending ripples of shock
and grief through the community.
Adaija was a promising young woman with a future full of potential. She had been accepted to Marian University on a full scholarship to study business. An aspiring model and talented makeup artist with her own business, Glam'd by Armani, she was known for her vibrant spirit and ambition. Her death, the third homicide in Allen County for 2024, left her family and friends devastated.
For months, the case remained under intense investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office, and the Allen County Coroner's Office. A break in the case came in the summer when authorities identified a suspect. On June 26, 2024, 21-year-old Dionee White was arrested in connection with the double homicide. He was taken into custody on the 900 block of Francis Street and subsequently charged with two counts of murder. While White's arrest marked a significant development in the pursuit of justice for Adaija and Lamarion, authorities have indicated that a second suspect is still being sought in connection with the fatal shooting.
