On the afternoon of February 21, 2024, a violent sequence of events unfolded at an apartment complex on the northwest side of Indianapolis, leading to the untimely death of a local entrepreneur and musician. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 3900 block of Gable Lane Drive, located within The Residence at White River Apartments near 38th Street and Knollton Road.
Responding to reports of a person shot around 3:00 p.m., police arrived to find a chaotic scene where a maroon vehicle had collided with a van and another car before coming to a stop.
Inside the crashed vehicle, authorities discovered 37-year-old Bryan Ramon Williams, a Black male, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined that the shooting likely did not occur at the exact spot where the car was found; rather, they believe the incident began elsewhere within the gated community. It appeared that after being wounded, the victim attempted to flee the area in his vehicle but lost control, resulting in the multi-car collision.
Williams was a well-known figure in his community, remembered as a "free spirit" and a dedicated family man who had a twin brother. A graduate of Ben Davis High School, he had built a life as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and investor, having founded companies such as 420365 LLC and DPM Trucking Co. Beyond his business ventures, he was a musician who wrote and produced his own music. He was also recognized for his charitable contributions to the Wheeler Mission and his role as a mentor to his nephews.
As of the latest available reports, the investigation into his death remains active. While police initially detained a male individual for questioning in connection with the shooting, that person was subsequently released after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. No formal charges had been filed, and detectives continued to appeal to the public for information and video surveillance footage that might shed light on the circumstances leading up to the fatal encounter.
