The call came in around early afternoon on February 24, 2024, when someone reported a body discovered in the 1100 block of Lafayette Avenue in Oolitic, Indiana. Deputies arrived to find a man dead inside a camper near Salt Creek, the small, quiet edge of town suddenly turned into a sealed-off scene of flashing lights and measured voices. In the hours that followed, the name they released carried the weight of a life abruptly stopped: James D. Stewart, 42, a White man.
