On the evening of March 21, 2024, Elkhart police responded to a reported shooting in the 2400 block of Morton Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 50-year-old David Strowder Sr. with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Elkhart County Homicide Unit initiated an investigation, treating the incident as isolated and posing no immediate threat to the public.
