On May 2, 2024, Lemar Brandon Qualls, a 35-year-old man, was fatally shot by two officers of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) on the city's north side. The incident occurred in the 3900 block of Broadway Street, near 38th Street and North College Avenue, after multiple calls were made to 911 reporting an armed man waving and pointing a gun at strangers and threatening to shoot them.
