In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 21, 2017, the quiet of a residential street in Carlsbad, New Mexico, was broken by an act of violence that would claim the life of Tomas Rodriguez. A Hispanic male, aged 49, Rodriguez was inside his home on the 300 block of Montclair Street when he sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and he was rushed to Carlsbad Medical Center, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
