The man, identified as 44-year-old Simeon Lucas Jones, was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was also transported to the hospital in critical condition. Jones, known affectionately to friends and family as 'Simi,' 'Lucas,' or 'Samson,' was a man remembered for his radiant smile, warm embrace, and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand.
Born in Indianapolis on April 14, 1981, Simeon was a man of faith and a devoted son. His life, marked by a strong work ethic and a friendly, conversational nature, was tragically cut short. The community was left to mourn a man who was a friend to everyone he encountered.
In the wake of the shooting, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide investigation.
