In the summer of 2024, a shooting incident in Fort Wayne, Indiana, resulted in the death of 27-year-old Travon Depree Holman. A Black male, Holman was fatally wounded on the evening of August 2nd, in the 1100 block of West Fourth Street. Responding to a call about the shooting, Fort Wayne Police Department officers discovered Holman in a life-threatening condition.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The Allen County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy and determined that the cause of Holman's death was multiple gunshot wounds, ruling the manner of death as a homicide. His death marked the 23rd homicide in Allen County for the year 2024. The investigation into the shooting was a collaborative effort involving the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office, and the Allen County Coroner's Office.
Through their investigation, detectives with the Fort Wayne Police Department identified 26-year-old Dana Minies Jr. as the suspected shooter. Law enforcement officials tracked Minies's vehicle to Elkhart County, where, with the assistance of local police, a traffic stop was conducted. Minies was then taken into custody without incident. He has since been preliminarily charged with Murder, Felony Murder, and Robbery and is being held at the Allen County Jail.
