On October 31, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred on the far east side of Indianapolis, resulting in the death of 17-year-old Dashawn Anthony Gilbert. The incident took place in the 11500 block of Brook Crossing Lane, near East 21st Street and North Cumberland Road.
