Tomas Humberto Villa Muñoz, a 22-year-old resident of Chicago, Illinois, was fatally shot and found dead on February 26, 2023. The incident occurred in the Douglas Park neighborhood, where Villa was discovered around 2:15 a.m. between two vehicles on the 2700 block of West 18th Street.
The investigation led to the arrest of two suspects, Moses Maldonado, 21, and Nicholas Samudio, 22, both from Chicago.
They were apprehended on the same evening of the murder, around 6:23 p.m., in the 2700 block of South Homan Avenue. At the time of their arrest, the suspects were in possession of a car that had been stolen in January.
Maldonado and Samudio are facing first-degree murder charges in connection with Villa's death. Additionally, they are charged with resisting and obstructing police. The two suspects were scheduled to appear in bond court following their arrest.
Tomas Humberto Villa Muñoz's funeral services were held on March 5 and 6, 2023. A visitation service took place at M. Martinez Funeral Home in Chicago, followed by a funeral mass at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church. He was interred at St. Casimir Cemetery.
