On June 8, 2023, Kyron Goode, an 18-year-old resident of Waukegan, Illinois, was fatally shot outside the Barwell Manor Apartments in the 500 block of South Genesee Street. The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded to a report of a shooting around 2:33 p.m. and found Goode, who had been shot in the face and chest, inside an apartment at the complex. He was transported to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
