On July 5, 2023, Lonnie D. Johnson, a resident of East St. Louis, Illinois, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Gaty Avenue in East St. Louis. Police responded to the scene and found Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, Johnson was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The suspect in the case is Cermen L. Toney, a 42-year-old man from East St. Louis. Toney turned himself in to the authorities on July 10, 2023. He was s ...
