On July 19, 2023, 34-year-old Joycelyn Fikes was fatally shot in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. in the 7600 block of South Michigan Avenue. According to police reports, a 34-year-old man engaged in a verbal altercation with a 32-year-old woman inside a residence.
