On September 15, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred in Palatine, Illinois, resulting in the deaths of two 16-year-old boys, Eduardo Alpizar and Uriel Garcia. The incident took place in the 1800 block of Green Lane North, where police responded to reports of a shooting around 10 p.m..
Upon arrival, officers found both teens suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Eduardo Alpizar was pronounced dead at the scene, while Uriel Garcia was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he later succumbed to his injuries early Saturday morning.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as Eduardo Alpizar and Uriel Garcia, both residents of Palatine. Autopsies for the victims were scheduled to be conducted on Sunday following the incident.
The Palatine police, along with the Major Case Assistance Team, are investigating the shooting, which is believed to be gang-related. According to police, the two teens appeared to have been targeted as a result of this gang-related incident. An apparent suspect vehicle has been recovered, but as of the latest reports, no one is currently in custody in connection to the deadly shooting.
