On January 6, 2024, Terry Smith, a 57-year-old man, was fatally shot in a laundromat located in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the 4800 block of West Chicago Avenue just after 9 p.m..

According to police reports, a man entered the laundromat and approached Terry Smith before pulling out a gun and shooting him multiple times. The gunman then fled the scene on foot.
